Rice Water

Rice water has been a popular topic, due to how it has been promoted through tik tok. This substance has been used in ancient China, Japan, and in Southeast Asia, they used it to get all the benefits for their hair, since this gives them protein for their hair making it grow healthy. Rice water is great for those who have damaged hair, or for people who want to make it grow fast. Getting this substance is easy, since most people already have these ingredients in their homes, therefore anyone can easily get a strong shiny hair.


To make rice water first you rinse the rice with water for a while, after you have done that you should pour that water out to get rid of all the impurities. After doing that, put water in that ½ cup of water and let it soak for 45 minutes, then you stir or shake it well and let it cool down. The next way to make it is by putting the same amount of water and rice as mentioned previously, and then you will boil the water for around 15 minutes, then drain it and let it cool down. The last method would be fermenting it by adding 1 tablespoon of rice to ½ a cup of water, then let it soak fo1-2 two full days and then drain the water into a container to use, to add smell you could add orange peels to it, this can only be kept for 5 days max in the fridge. As it can be seen, only two ingredients are needed and it does not take much time to make.


The fermentation method is recommended to do it since it helps get more antioxidants, helping protect the hair from free radicals which are oxidative molecules. Meaning that it will help avoid premature aging of the hair making it keep its beauty for longer. Besides this, it lowers the PH value making it line up with the PH level that your hair has. This is the best method, but you should be cautious, if it is not done properly, then pathogenic bacteria can be produced which could cause different diseases. Therefore, preferably use this method but make sure to follow the steps as instructed.


Even though the fermentation is the best, all of them give benefits to your hair. The first thing is that it is a mild cleanser that moisturises and repairs your hair. Besides that it smoothes your hair cuticles while reducing dandruff, hair loss, and hair damage. To get this benefit it is best to use it after you have dry clean hair, so it can be absorbed better. To use the rice water, pour it, squeeze it, and massage your scalp. Next, put your hair up on a bun and if you want add a plastic cap for better results, leave it on your hair for about 30 minutes. It can be seen that to get all these benefits it is easy, it may take time, but while it is sitting on your hair you could do any activity you want.


Rice water is used to give protein to your hair, which is great but you have to be careful of not getting over protein on it. Protein gets stripped away when we use chemicals such as hair dye, the chemicals in your shampoo, and heat appliances have contact with out hair, therefore you have to find products, like the rice water to give back to your hair, but when doing this you should be aware of how much of the product you are using because your hair will also begin to get damaged if it has too much protein on it. A few signs of this would be having brittle hair, meaning that the hair is dry and comes off easily, meaning that you will begin to shed more often than what you are supposed to. Beside the hair falling down easily, it would most likely not come out in strands but in pieces. Your hair will most likely begin to behave differently, and it would also lose the shine that it gained when you first began to use the product. Therefore, when using the rice water use it once or twice a week to avoid the previous things that were mentioned.
