Pablo Alejandro is a very well known and talented Panamanian photographer. He has been involved in this profession since he was very young and his most recent project is a collaboration with McDonald's. He explains how although he has been trying to cultivate this endeavor for a couple of years, it wasn't until one of his Tik Toks going viral, that his work started to get outstanding recognition. Pablo tells us, how "it was not very serious or for work but [his] intention was that people would get to know [him]”. He then began using it as a platform to share the behind-the-scenes of all his projects which people seemed to enjoy which brought people's attention to his main Instagram account. He says that “Tik Tok was the booster for everything”. It opened many doors for him and brought him a lot of opportunities.

The idea to start working on photography came to him when he thought to himself, “Creating things visually is what I like, so why not make that my job”. One life lesson he learned is “if you do what you love, you have fun”. Many people are fixated on just getting a job that will produce money. He explains how contrasting to that idea, from a young age he was taught that “[he] ha[s] to do what [he] like[s] [to] enjoy [his] job and avoid living frustrated”. Although he loves what he does and could not be happier, he would've liked to know at the beginning to “trust the process and always try to improve”. He acknowledges that even when he is at a good level, there is always room for improvement. Through the years he has learned a lot and he is proud that “now [he] like[s] the quality of what [he] do[es]”.

Like any other business or project, there are always obstacles to face. Pablo explains that for him, "The business side, in general, has been a major obstacle”. Starting such a big endeavor with economic and transportation limitations made the job more challenging. Like a lot of creators, coronavirus has affected his projects and shoots. Although it has been a challenging year for him, it “pushed [him] to take things more seriously”. He started paying closer attention to his social media which led to the growth of both his accounts on Tik Tok and Instagram. This growth opened job opportunities and projects, and he thanks God for all the good he has allowed, amidst all of the bad.

Although most people think he was professionally educated in photography, he remains transparent and “tell[s] them that [he] learned everything from the internet” in order “to show that everyone can”. Youtube has become his biggest tool in learning different techniques in photography and editing which he still utilizes to this day. As a creator, he always tries to keep educating himself in order to always have something new and special to bring to the table.

He likes to have his own style when creating photos but also enjoys taking inspiration from other great photographers. Derek Freske (@dfreske) is an outstanding photographer that Pablo mentions is “[his] inspiration for photography because the result of his [images][are] where [he] aspire[s] [his] photography to go”. He also enjoys going on the social platform Pinterest to look for inspiration, but still likes to keep his style which “is quite clean, with natural colors but still vibrant”. He explains that “ it is impossible that you have not done something similar to another person, but you always have to find ways to do it in a way that makes it different and special”. The key is to be unique and put your own style in what you do. He also highlights how important it is to know who you are because it “reflects in your art”.

Many people like to point out how the beauty of photography is the ability to capture a moment, but he thinks that its beauty comes more from the ability to “creating a new moment”. In his photographs, he tries to create unique and special details in order “to capture a half false essence and create another environment”.

As anything that we do can become a daily habit, they all come with its good and bad perks. Pablo mentions how his photography brings him a little of both. On the downside, it “brings [him] stress”. Because of the fact that he has grown exponentially, he has a lot more work including managing his social media while completing all his projects. On the other hand, it has “it has helped [him] to be more organized and more attentive to things”. He has begun planning things beforehand and using a calendar to stay on top of everything he has to do.

Overall, he explains how he is very grateful for all of the growth he has garnered in the past couple of months, and explains how the key to this was to “to be consistent and try to differentiate [himself] from others as much [he] you could”. He likes to think the reason his works attract others is because of their uniqueness, and how finding something exactly like them is not as common to find. He always tries to constantly ask himself if what he is doing is “contributing something different to photography”. He hopes that his audience keeps growing and dreams of having “ an apartment in which [he] can have a specific corner to take photos, being independent and working on what makes [him] happy”. He also hopes in the future to have the opportunity to work with brands and professional artists. For him, simplicity is key, and as long as he is happy doing what he loves, that's all that matters.

Pablo Alejandro es un fotógrafo panameño talentoso y muy reconocido. Él ha estado involucrado en esta profesión desde muy joven y su proyecto más reciente es una colaboración con McDonalds. Pablo explica cómo ha estado tratando de cultivar este esfuerzo durante por un par de años. Pero no fue hasta que uno de sus Tik Toks se volvió viral que su trabajo comenzó a obtener un reconocimiento sobresaliente. Aunque le guste lo que hace y no pudiera estar más feliz, a él le hubiese gustado saber en el comienzo es “Que confíes en el proceso y siempre trates de mejorar.” Él reconoce que aunque esté en un nivel alto, siempre hay espacio para mejorar. A través de los años, él ha aprendido mucho y está feliz que “Ahora [le] gusta la calidad de lo que [hace]”.

Como cualquier otro negocio o proyecto, siempre hay obstáculos que afrontar. Pablo explica que para él “ El negocio en general ha sido un gran obstáculo.” Comenzando un empeño tan grande con límites económicos y de transporte ha hecho el trabajo más desafiante. Como a otros creadores, el coronavirus ha afectado sus proyectos y sesiones de fotos. Aunque ha sido un año desafiante, esto lo ha “ empuj[ado] a tomar las cosas más enserio.” Él comenzó a prestarle más atención a sus redes sociales lo cual ha resultado en el crecimiento de seguidores en sus cuentas de Instagram y Twitter. Este crecimiento ha logrado a que Pablo consiga más oportunidades y proyectos y le da gracias a Dios por todos las bendiciones que ha traído a pesar todo lo malo.

A Pablo le gusta tener su propio estilo cuando está creando sus fotos pero también le gusta tomar inspiración de otros fotógrafos talentosos. Derek Freske (@dfreske) es un fotógrafo excepcional y Pablo menciona, “El es como mi inspiración para la fotografía porque el resultado de su fotografía es donde yo aspiro que mi fotografía vaya”. Al igual, le gusta ir a la plataforma de Pinterest pero aun así le gusta mantener su estilo el cual “es bastante limpio, con bastante colores como naturales pero vibrantes”. Pablo nos explica como “ es imposible que no hayas hecho algo parecido a otra persona, pero siempre hay que buscar maneras de hacerlo algo que lo haga diferente y especial”. La clave es ser único y poner tu propio estilo en lo que haces. Él también destaca que una de las cosas más importante es saber quien eres por que “se refleja en tu arte.”

A muchos les gusta decir que lo especial de la fotografía es la habilidad de capturar un momento. Pero Pablo menciona que para él lo especial viene de “crear un nuevo momento ”. En su fotografía, él intenta crear detalles únicos y especiales para poder “captar una esencia medio falsa y crear otro ambiente”

Justo como cualquier cosa que hacemos en la vida, grande o chico, siempre vienen con ventajas y desventajas. Pablo menciona como su negocio de fotografía le trae un poco de las dos. En un lado, “ [le] trae estrés”. Ya que como él ha crecido exponencialmente, ahora tiene más trabajo que hacer; él tiene que manejar sus redes sociales mientras completa sus proyectos. Por otro lado, [le] ha ayudado a ser más organizado y a estar más atento a las cosas. Él ha empezado a planear las cosas de antemano al igual de usar un calendario para estar encima de todas las cosas que tiene que hacer.

Finalmente, el explica que está muy agradecido por todo el crecimiento que ha tenido en los últimos meses, y aclara que la clave a esto fue “la consistencia y tratar de diferenciarse de los demás lo más que pu[do]”. Le gusta pensar que su trabajo atrae a las personas ya que es único, y encontrar algo exactamente igual a él no es común. Siempre intenta preguntarse a sí mismo si “está aportando algo diferente a la fotografía”. El espera que su audiencia siga creciendo y sueña con “ un apartamento en el cual [tiene] una esquina específica para tomar fotos, siendo independiente y trabajando en lo que [le] hace feliz”. En el futuro también espera poder tener la oportunidad de trabajar con grandes marcas y artistas profesionales. Para él, la simplicidad es clave, y mientras él esté feliz haciendo lo que ama, nada más importa.
