Passion for Makeup

My passion for makeup started around 4 years ago. I can’t remember specifically who I watched on YouTube that sparked this passion, but I’m so glad it did. Before, I saw makeup as something you would apply to your face to look more put together. You went to work and you put on makeup; you went out and put on makeup. Now, I see it as artistry; as a way to express yourself, boost your confidence, and show it off.

Makeup can also be an escape. It can lift you up and make you feel a little better. Wearing makeup does not mean you don’t feel good in your own skin nor does mean that you are an insecure person, and if that’s the case, that’s okay too; it also doesn’t make you less of a person to wear something that makes you feel better about yourself. With time you should learn to love yourself in your bare skin because makeup products were created to enhance your beautiful features and bring a smile to your face.

I learned from watching hours and hours of YouTube that makeup is different for everyone; what may work for certain people may not work for you because your skin type is different. Your undertone is different and your facial features are unique to you. Little by little you get to know your skin, be able to play around with your features, and figure out what suits you best.

The best part is that makeup is so personalized and diverse that boys and girls can do whatever they want. Some like thick eyebrows, some like thin, some like to wear a lot of makeup, and some like to wear little makeup. You do you; do what makes you feel good and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. Patrick Staar (beauty guru) couldn’t have said it better: “Makeup is a one size fits all”, meaning anyone can do it and they can do it however they want.

Another thing that certain people still don’t understand is that I do makeup because I like it and enjoy it. I don’t do it for anybody else but myself. Girls don’t spend an hour and a half glamming to impress a guy. Haha! Most likely he won’t even notice; so no, we don’t do it for them. We do it for ourselves; to look in the mirror and say: “Dang I look good”. Makeup brings joy and confidence to individuals so have fun with it and make it your own.
