As a Bachelor of Arts student, I have nothing more to offer you than my point of view about the environment in which I operate. My young age and my lack of experience do not allow me to consider myself a specialist in any subject, however, I can talk about what I see as a member of a generation with the enormous responsibility of changing Mexico. As Mexicans, we have decided to ignore art because it reminds us of who we are, we are terrified to see our true identity and prefer to adopt an image created by some politician or nationalist group that ends up dividing us.
The denial of art is experienced by all Mexicans during primary education when the mandatory subject of “art” is more of a crafts workshop than actual art. Instead of incentivizing an interest in a host of expressions that should accompany us for the rest of our lives, the arts become an easy-to-pass school subject where we learn that art is putting a diamond on a piece of a pizza box. But, how are we going to generate interest or love for such a "useless" activity as art? In an increasingly utilitarian world, art seems to lose importance, but the reality is that we need it more than ever, and it has become the best way to remind ourselves that we are human beings. Leaving aside the romanticism, it is important to mention that the main reason why the professional study of the arts has been stigmatized is because of the economic issues our country faces. In most cases it is extremely difficult to bear the expenses of a household using an artist's income, but how do we intend to change this situation if we choose to abandon the study of the arts? How are we going to generate a profitable art market if we give up? Let's make an effort to put aside our prejudices and work to create a change.
I study arts because through them I have seen the transformations of human thought and it has helped me to better understand myself. One of my main pictorial influences is the impressionist painter Éduard Manet who said that a painter must be from his time and paint what he sees. By this he does not refer to reproducing identical copies of physical reality, but rather says we cannot speak of something that we do not know, and that is what I seek to capture on my canvases. It is inevitable that my work speaks about me, but I do not pretend to tell my story or for viewers to get to know me. What I want is to talk about the circumstances in which I have been involved, the feelings I have had, and other ideas that have arisen after reflecting on a topic. The lack of physical and virtual spaces to exhibit both my paintings and the artistic creations of other young people committed to artistic endeavor led me to collaborate with a group of colleagues for the creation of the Bacchanalian Magazine. It is a virtual site on Facebook and Instagram where we accept works of any type of artistic expression from young artists from around the world. It is a place for people who want to share their ideas and skills with the world.
We cannot abandon art because we would immediately l abandon ourselves. Art is not only for those who want to create, it concerns anyone who reads this because art belongs to everyone and is for everyone.

Un mensaje para los futuros artistas de nuestra generación

Como estudiante de bachillerato en artes, no tengo más que ofrecerles que mi punto de vista acerca del ambiente en que me desenvuelvo. Mi corta edad y mi falta de experiencia no me permiten considerarme especialista en ningún tema, pero puedo hablarles de lo que veo como miembro de una generación con la enorme responsabilidad de cambiar a México. Los mexicanos hemos decidido ignorar el arte porque nos recuerda quienes somos, nos aterra ver nuestra verdadera identidad indefinida y preferimos adoptar una imagen creada por algún político o grupo nacionalista que termina dividendons.
Todos experimentamos la negación hacia el arte durante nuestra educación básica, la materia obligatoria de “artes” es más bien vista como un taller de manualidades. En lugar de inculcarnos interés por un cúmulo de expresiones que deberían de acompañarnos por el resto de nuestras vidas, las artes se vuelven una materia escolar fácil de pasar donde aprendemos que el arte es poner diamantina sobre un pedazo de cartón de pizza. Pero, ¿cómo vamos a generar interés o amor por una actividad tan “inútil” como es el arte? En un mundo cada vez más utilitarista, el arte parece perder importancia, pero la realidad es que lo necesitamos más que nunca, y se ha convertido en la mejor forma de recordarnos que somos seres humanos. Dejando a un lado el romanticismo, me es de importancia mencionar que el principal motivo por el cual se ha estigmatizado el estudio a nivel profesional de las artes, es la cuestión económica. En la mayoría de los casos es sumamente difícil sobrellevar los gastos de un hogar con un ingreso de artista, pero ¿cómo pretendemos cambiar esta situación si optamos por abandonar el estudio de las artes? ¿cómo vamos a generar un mercado artístico redituable si nos damos por vencidos? Hagamos un esfuerzo por dejar a un lado nuestros prejuicios y pongamos manos a la obra para generar un cambio.
Estudio artes porque a través de ellas he visto las transformaciones en el pensamiento humano y me ha ayudado a entenderme a mí mismo. Una de mis principales influencias pictóricas, es el pintor impresionista Éduard Manet, quien decía que un pintor debe ser de su época y pintar lo que ve. Con esto no se refiere a reproducir copias idénticas de la realidad física, sino que no podemos hablar de algo que no conocemos, y eso es lo que busco plasmar en mis lienzos. Es inevitable que mi obra no hable sobre mi persona, pero no pretendo contar mi historia o que los espectadores me conozcan. Lo que pretendo es hablar de las circunstancias en las que me he visto envuelto, los sentimientos que he tenido y otras ideas que me han surgido tras reflexionar sobre algún tema. La falta de espacios físicos y virtuales para exponer tanto mis pinturas como las creaciones artísticas de otros jóvenes comprometidos con el quehacer artístico me llevó a colaborar con un grupo de compañeros para la creación de la Revista bacanal; un sitio virtual en Facebook e Instagram donde aceptamos trabajos de cualquier tipo de expresión artística de jóvenes de cualquier parte que quieren compartir con el mundo sus ideas y habilidades.
No podemos abandonar el arte porque inmediatamente después nos abandonaremos a nosotros mismos, porque el arte no es sólo para el que quiere crear, esto le concierne a cualquiera que lo lea porque el arte es de todos y para todos.
